Rosemary Herlihy, 77

SHEFFIELD - Rosemary Kirchner Herlihy, 77, of Park Lane died Monday, Nov. 19, 2007, at Newport (R.I.) Hospital after a long illness. She had been vacationing in Newport. Born on Nov. 15, 1930, in Pittsfield, she was the daughter of the late Earl and Mabel Shaw Kirchner, she attended schools in Pittsfield and was a 1949 graduate of St. Joseph's High School. Mrs. Herlihy worked at the former Captain Toss restaurant in Great Barrington for more than 20 years. She loved cooking, especially baking, and was lovingly known as the "Blueberry Lady" as she baked well over 200 loaves of blueberry bread each year and delivered them throughout Berkshire County to friends and family. Despite her illness, Mrs. Herlihy continued this tradition through this past blueberry season. She also enjoyed traveling along with her husband. Besides her husband of 34 years, James Herlihy, she also leaves a son, James Puleri Jr. and his wife, Jill, of Newtown, Conn.; three daughters, Sharon Cushner and her husband, Stuart, of Norton, Rosemarie Kirchner MacCardle and her husband, Kyle, of Newport and Sheila Puleri of Lenox; two sisters, Gloria Hyland of Lanesborough, Beverly Slater of East Brunswick, N.J., and Sherryetta Carnevale of Pittsfield; two brothers, Henry Kirchner, Lawrence Kirchner and David Kirchner, all of Pittsfield; her grandchildren, who were the love of her life, Austin and Logan Puleri, Eli and Max Cushner, Kyle Scott MacCardle and Chad and Karisa Zerbato, and several nieces, nephews and cousins. She was predeceased by two brothers, Nicholas and Donald Kirchner, and a sister, Margaret Kirchner. FUNERAL NOTICE - The family invites everyone to join them for a memorial Mass celebrating the life of the late Rosemary Kirchner Herlihy on Saturday, Nov. 24, at 11 at Our Lady of the Valley Church in Sheffield, conducted by the Rev. A. Dagnoli. The family will receive friends on Friday evening, Nov. 23, from 4 until 7 at Finnerty and Stevens Funeral Home in Great Barrington. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Sheffield Kiwanis club through the funeral home, 426 Main Street, Great Barrington, MA 01230.
