Angelo Rocco Stracuzzi

Angelo Rocco Stracuzzi, 80, of Richmond Road died Sunday at Berkshire Medical Center. Born in Pittsfield on March 17, 1927, son of Joseph and Antoinette Intelisano Stracuzzi, he was educated in local schools. A Navy veteran of World War II, he served from May 4, 1944, to May 25, 1946, and was discharged with the rank of seaman first class. Mr. Stracuzzi was emplyed by the Pittsfield Department of Public Works as foreman of the Highway Department, leading paving and plowing crews. He retired April 3, 1992, with 28 years of service. Before that, he worked in his brother's business, V.J. Stracuzzi Contracting, and at General Electric Co. He was a member of the Elks Club's Tuesday night pitch league for more than 20 years and enjoyed the Boston Red Sox and working with his farm equipment. His first wife, the former Connie Iorio, is deceased. He and his wife, the former Loretta Dorgan, celebrated their 43rd wedding anniversary in September. Besides his wife, he leaves three sons, Angelo C. Stracuzzi, Anthony C. Stracuzzi and John A. Stracuzzi, all of Pittsfield; a daughter Donna M. Smith of Pittsfield; eight grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren. FUNERAL NOTICE -- The funeral for Angelo Rocco Stracuzzi, who died Sunday, Dec. 2, 2007, will be Thursday at 10 a.m. at DERY FUNERAL HOME, with a Liturgy of Christian Burial at 11 a.m. at St. Charles' Church celebrated by the Rev. Peter A. Gregory, pastor. Burial will follow in St. Joseph's Cemetery. Calling hours will be Wednesday from 4 to 8 p.m. at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, contributions in memory of Mr. Stracuzzi may be made to the Berkshire Medical Center Cardiac Rehab Unit, in care of the funeral home, 54 Bradford St., Pittsfield. Mr. Stracuzzi also leaves two daughters-in-law, Rosanne Sokolowski Stracuzzi and Kim Phillips Stracuzzi; a son-in-law, Ronald J. Smith; eight grandchildren, Holly, Angela, Tina, Paula, Renee, Tony, Justin and Jason; five great-grandchildren, Jonah, Bryce, Gabe, Samantha and Casey. He was predeceased by five brothers, Vincent, Rosario, Joseph, Samuel and Anthony.
