Benjamin J. Kupiec Jr., 71, of 105 Bracewell Ave., died Sunday at North Adams Regional Hospital. Born in Adams on March 26, 1936, son of Benjamin J. and Bernadette Guild Kupiec, he attended local schools. He was a Marine Corps veteran of the Korean War. Mr. Kupiec was employed for many years by the former James Hunter Machine Co. as a machinist. After moving to Northampton, he was employed in the same capacity by Kollmorgan Machine Co. He retired in 1990 and returned to Adams, then moved to North Adams in 2000. He was a member of First Baptist Church in Cheshire and enjoyed fishing and mushrooming. He and his wife, the former Doris Andrews, were married Aug. 14, 1965. Besides his wife, he leaves a son, Benjamin J. Kupiec III of North Adams; a brother, Ronald Kupiec of Dalton; two sisters, Bernadette Kupiec of Key West, Fla., and Nancy Levesque of Adams; and three grandchildren. He was predeceased by a son, Walter T. Kupiec. FUNERAL SERVICE -- Private services and burial for Benjamin J. Kupiec Jr., who died Sunday, Dec. 2, 2007, will take place at a later date at the convenience of the family. There will be no calling hours. TROTTIER PRINGLE FUNERAL HOME is in charge of arrangements. Mr. Kupiec also leaves three grandchildren, Stephanie L., Jennifer L. and Dylan A. Kupiec, and several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by a brother, Lawrence Kupiec, and by a sister, Elaine Bush.
