Elena "Helen" Carpino, 96, of 89 South St., Berkshire Place, died there Wednesday. Born in Pittsfield on March 4, 1911, daughter of Francesco and Teresa Caputo Carpino, she graduated from Pittsfield High School and from Hunter College in New York City. She also received a degree in medical technology from the former St. Luke's Hospital. Ms. Carpino was employed as a medical technologist at various facilities throughout her career and retired from the former Hillcrest Hospital. She was a longtime communicant of St. Mark's Church and a member of the Vineyard Community in Lenox and the Hunter College Alumni Association. She leaves several nieces and nephews. FUNERAL NOTICE -- A Liturgy of Christian Burial for Elena "Helen" Carpino, 96, who died Dec. 19, 2007, will be celebrated Thursday, Dec. 27, at 10 a.m. at St. Mark's Church by the Rev. John Salatino, pastor, and the Rev. Thomas Finnegan, a family friend. There will be no calling hours, but a funeral luncheon at the Social Center at St. Mark's Church will immediately follow the liturgy. Burial will be in St. Joseph's Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations to the Berkshire Humane Society, in care of DEVANY-CONDRON FUNERAL HOME, 40 Maplewood Ave., Pittsfield, MA 01201, may be made in her memory.
