Hazel Virginia Lavigne

Hazel Virginia Lavigne, 84, formerly of 554 Daniels Road, died Sunday at North Adams Commons. Born in North Adams on Nov. 28, 1923, daughter of Arthur and Lula May Estes Babcock, she attended local schools including Drury High School. Mrs. Lavigne was employed by the former Sprague Electric Co. for 40 years, retiring in 1985. Before that, she worked at the former Greylock Division of Berkshire Fine Spinning and the former Newberry's in North Adams. She was a communicant of the former Notre Dame Church in North Adams. Her husband, Lawrence J. Lavigne, whom she married Nov. 13, 1948, died June 17, 1997. She leaves two daughters, Linda Ann Gelineau of South Hadley and Jane Marie Lavigne of North Adams; a son, Michael Joseph Lavigne of Enfield, Conn.; a sister, Lillian Hescock of Pownal, Vt.; eight grandchildren; and 10 great-grandchildren. FUNERAL NOTICE -- At the request of Hazel Lavigne, who died Sunday, Dec. 23, 2007, there will be no funeral or calling hours. Burial will take place in the spring in Bellevue Cemetery in Adams. Memorial donations are suggested for the American Cancer Society through FLYNN & DAGNOLI-MONTAGNA HOME FOR FUNERALS, Central Chapels, 74 Marshall St., North Adams. Mrs. Lavigne also leaves a son-in-law, Joseph Gelineau.; her daughter Jane's companion, Gregory Zagrubski; her son Michael's companion, Maria Lozano; eight grandchildren, Nicole Herold, Stacey Gelineau, Tammy LePage, Michelle McNeil, Denise LePage, Richard Lavigne Soucie, Katelyn Lavigne Soucie and Andrew Lavigne. A grandson, Matthew Lavigne, and three sisters, Mabel Felix, Viola Arnold and Marion Lamoureaux, are deceased.
