Elizabeth Joan Balardini

Elizabeth Joan Balardini, 89, of 15 Harding Ave. died yesterday at home. Born in Westfield on Nov. 24, 1918, daughter of John and Margaret Blasczak Pitoniak, she moved to Adams as a child and graduated from the former Adams High School in 1936. Mrs. Balardini was employed by Excelsior Printing Co. in North Adams in the payroll department, retiring in 1981. Before that, she worked for the former Brightwater Paper Co. and its successor, Budd Co., and for the former Berkshire Fine Spinning Associates. She was a communicant of the Parish of Notre Dame-St. Thomas and enjoyed word puzzles. She was a fan of the Boston Red Sox. Her husband, Faustino "Munn" Balardini, whom she married Jan. 6, 1940, at St. Thomas' Church, died Sept. 12, 2002. She leaves a son, David R. Balardini of Adams; a daughter, Donna J. Maselli of Cheshire; two brothers, Harold Pitoniak of Alfred, Maine, and Edward Pitoniak of Adams; a sister, Margaret Balardini of Adams; and two grandsons. FUNERAL NOTICE -- The funeral for Elizabeth Balardini, who died Wednesday, Dec. 26, 2007, will be Monday at 9 a.m. from PACIOREK FUNERAL HOME, 13 Hoosac St., with a Liturgy of Christian Burial at 10 a.m. at St. Thomas' Church celebrated by the Rev. Daniel J. Boyle, pastor of the Catholic Parishes of Adams. Burial will follow in Bellevue Cemetery. Calling hours will be Sunday from 4 to 7 p.m. at the funeral home. Memorial donations may be made to the VNA & Hospice of Northern Berkshire through the funeral home. Mrs. Balardini also leaves a son-in law, James; two grandchildren, James Maselli Jr. and Todd Maselli, both of Adams; and nieces, nephews, grandnieces and grandnephews.
