Helen Madden

Helen Madden, 92, of 148 Maple Ave. died Monday at Great Barrington Nursing and Rehabilitation Center. Born in Boston on Oct. 9, 1915, daughter of Dennis and Nora Leahy Killeen, she was raised in Housatonic and graduated from the former Searles High School in 1933. She attended Our Lady of the Elms College, now Elms College, in Chicopee. Mrs. Madden was employed by W.T. Grant's and by Fairview Hospital in the laboratory. She also was head housekeeper at the Red Lion Inn for several years, and until retiring at age 87, served as a housekeeper for a number of local families. Her husband, John Madden, whom she married in 1942, died in 1998. She leaves three sons, John Madden of San Clemente, Calif., Paul Madden of Stottville, N.Y., and Thomas Madden of Richland, Mo.; two daughters, Helen Madden of Farmington, Conn., and Nora Cruikshank of Baragada, Guam; five grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren. FUNERAL NOTICE -- A Liturgy of Christian Burial for Helen Madden, who died Monday, Dec. 24, 2007, will be celebrated Saturday at 10 a.m. at Corpus Christi Church by the Rev. William Murphy, pastor. Burial will follow in St. Bridget's Cemetery. The family will receive friends tomorrow from 4 to 6 p.m. at BIRCHES-ROY FUNERAL HOME.
