Janis T. Wong, 72
NORTH ADAMS, Mass. — Janis Therese Wong, 72, of 51 Liberty St., died Tuesday, Jan. 1, 2008, at Berkshire Medical Center in Pittsfield.
Born in China, on Dec. 19, 1935, daughter of Pak-Chai and Ngan Chung Chan, she attended schools in China. She came to the United States in 1957, following her marriage, and settled in the Berkshires in 1968.
Mrs. Wong was last employed by the former Sprague Electric Co. until her retirement in 1996. Before that, she had been employed by the former Hunter Outdoor Products.
She was a communicant of St. Francis' Church and was a member of the Jollee Circle. She enjoyed sewing, cooking and playing mah-jongg. She was a devoted wife, mother and grandmother, and enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren.
Her husband, Harry Stephens Wong, whom she married on May 25, 1957, died March 21, 1985.
Mrs. Wong leaves four daughters, Janet Collins and her husband, John, of Pittsfield, Joann Censullo and her husband, Paul, of Stoneham, Joyce Cushman and her husband, Paul, of Cheshire, and Judith Trombley of North Adams; three sons, Herbert Wong and his wife, Linda Brenner, of Rockville, Md., Harold Wong of North Adams, and Hubert Wong and his wife, Keri, of Boston; two sisters, Eva Lew of Boyds, Md., and Wanda Chin of Great Falls, Va.; a brother, Hanson Chan of East Stroudsburg, Pa., 11 grandchildren, Mark Wong, Joseph Collins, James Collins, Zachary Trombley, Nicholas Trombley, Alexander Censullo, Emily Wong, Jeffrey Wong, twins Michael and Jana Cushman, and Paxton Wong, and nieces and nephews.
A brother, Arnold Chan, is deceased.
FUNERAL NOTICE — Services for Janis Chan Wong, will be held Saturday at 8:15 a.m. from Flynn & Dagnoli-Montagna Home for Funerals, West Chapels, 521 West Main St., North Adams, followed by a Funeral Mass at 9 a.m. at St. Francis' Church.
Burial will follow in Southview Cemetery. Calling hours at the funeral home are Friday from 4 to 7 p.m. Donations in her memory may be made to FORD (Friends of Renal Dialysis) at BMC in care of the funeral home.
