Carol A. Deane

Washington - Carol A. Deane, 53, of 282 Stonehouse Road, a lifelong resident of Washington, died Tuesday at home. Born in Pittsfield, on Aug. 6, 1954, daughter of Lorraine Campbell Deane and the late Alfred E. Deane, she was educated in Washington and Dalton schools and was a 1972 graduate of Wahconah Regional High School. She graduated from Berkshire Community College in 1987 with an associate's degree in liberal arts. At the time of her death, Ms. Deane was a loan officer with Greylock Federal Credit Union, where she had been employed for the past 17 years. From 1985 to 1987, she was employed by the former Mapleview Nursing Home, and from 1987 to 1990, she was employed as the dietary manager at Mount Greylock Extended Care Facility. Ms. Deane was a communicant of the former St. Matthew's Church in Becket. She was actively involved with the American Cancer Society Relay for Life team at the Greylock Federal Union, and was active in with the Big Brothers, Big Sisters bowling tournament. She enjoyed reading, Sudoku, travel, theatre, dancing and cooking. Besides her mother of Washington, she leaves three sisters, Yvonne A. Wendling and Rosemarie E. Levernoch, both of Washington, and Mary A. Deane of Pittsfield. FUNERAL NOTICE -- Services for Carol A. Deane, who died Tuesday, Jan. 1, 2008, will be held Monday at 9:15 a.m. from DERY-FOLEY FUNERAL HOME with a Liturgy of Christian Burial at 10 a.m. at St. Agnes' Church, celebrated by the Rev. Christopher A. Malatesta, pastor. Burial will be in the spring in Stonehouse Cemetery in Washington. Calling hours will be held Sunday from 4 to 7 p.m. at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, contributions in memory of Ms. Deane may be made to Relay for Life in care of the funeral home, 890 East Main St., Dalton. Ms. Deane also leaves a brother-in-law, Mark Levernoch; two nieces, Jessica Simpson and Kayla Wendling; three nephews, Timothy Levernoch and Joshua and Daniel Wendling; her great-nephew, Evan Sampson; aunt and uncle Joan and Wil Cadman; and uncle Jack Campbell.
