Lois J. Burns

Adams - Lois J. Burns, 79, of 89 Summer St. died Friday at Sweet Brook Care Centers in Williamstown after a long illness. Born in Buckland on Aug. 14, 1928, daughter of Murton and Minnie Billiel Page, she attended schools there. Mrs. Burns was employed by Kendall Mills of Colrain as an operative in the cotton plant. She was a communicant of the Parish of Notre Dame-St. Thomas, and enjoyed crocheting. She and her husband, Ernest F. Burns, were married Jan. 21, 1971, in Turners Falls. He died May 5, 1996. She leaves a son, Daniel F. Burns of Cheshire; three daughters, Darlene Duval of North Adams, and Jody Plumb and Lori Burns, both of Adams; a stepson, Robert E. Page of Belmont; a stepdaughter, Trudy Merreyweather of Marion, Ohio; 11 grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren. A son, Bruce E. Page, and two stepdaughters, Marie Burns and Kathleen Lavargne, are all deceased. FUNERAL NOTICE -- Services in the Roman Catholic tradition will be offered Wednesday at 1 p.m. at MCBRIDE FUNERAL HOME, 8 Liberty St., Adams, for Lois Burns, who died Friday, Jan. 4, 2008. Calling hours will be Tuesday from 4 to 7 p.m. Burial will take place Thursday at 2 p.m. in the family lot in Arms Cemetery in Shelburne. Two brothers, Robert and Richard Page, also are deceased.
