Michael Jay Dewkett

Canaan, CT. - Michael Jay Dewkett, 30, of Railroad Street, formerly of Great Barrington, died Jan. 3 at home. Born in Pittsfield on Feb. 15, 1977, son of Kathleen McGuire and her husband, the late David Dewkett, he attended Great Barrington schools, including Monument Mountain Regional High School. At the time of his death, Mr. Dewkett was employed by Berkshire Veneer Corp. in Egremont, Mass., as a warehouse manager. Before that, he was employed by Agway in Great Barrington and by Custom Extrusion in Sheffield, Mass. He enjoyed hunting and playing golf. Besides his mother, of Sheffield, he leaves a daughter, Sierra Dewkett of Housatonic, Mass.; a sister, Theresa Graney of Falls Village; and a brother, Richard Dewkett of Falmouth, Mass. FUNERAL NOTICE -- The funeral for Michael Jay Dewkett, who died Thursday, Jan. 3, 2008, will be private. There will be no calling hours. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Michael J. Dewkett Memorial Fund through FINNERTY & STEVENS FUNERAL HOME, 426 Main St., Great Barrington, MA 01230. Mr. Dewkett also leaves his longtime companion, Marie Coyle of Housatonic; his brother-in-law, Joseph Graney; his nephew, Zack; three nieces, Emily, Natalia and Madison; and aunts, uncles and cousins. He was predeceased by his sister, Maureen Snyder of Sheffield. He enjoyed hunting with his late father and spending time with his daughter.
