Edward Moore Zeller

Cheshire - Edward Moore Zeller, 89, of 675 Stafford Hill Road, died Tuesday at Berkshire Medical Center. Born in Bronx, N.Y., on Dec. 6, 1918, son of Boltis and Rose Connolly Zeller, he moved with his parents to Nanuet, N.Y., where he attended local schools, graduating from Pearl River High School in 1937. He was an Army veteran of World War II, serving in the Pacific theater as a sanitary technical sergeant with Malaria Survey Unit 8. Mr. Zeller was a union carpenter for most of his life, working in New Jersey. He also was employed as a supervisor for the town of Paramus, N.J., for 18 years, and on his own time was a building contractor for several homes, retiring in 1980. He moved to Cheshire in 1986. Mr. Zeller was a musician, playing the steel and Spanish guitars in several bands, and was featured on local radio and at "Zellers Cellar." He was a member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars in Paramus. He married the former Lillian Neithardt on Feb. 10, 1946. Besides his wife, he leaves a son, Edward Ernest Zeller of Cheshire; two sisters, Rosemary Stockdale of Nanuet, N.Y. and Jeannette Marcarelli of Whiting, N.J.; a granddaughter, and three step-granddaughters. FUNERAL NOTICE -- Services for Edward Moore Zeller, who died Tuesday, Jan. 8, 2008, will be conducted at 3 p.m. Saturday at Trottier Pringle Funeral Home, 6 Summer St., Adams, by the Rev. Rick Newton, pastor of First Baptist Church in Cheshire. Burial will be at the convenience of the family. Calling hours at the funeral home will be Saturday from noon until the time of the service. Flowers are welcome or donations in his memory can be made to the American Heart Association through the funeral home. Mr. Zeller also leaves a daughter-in-law, Blanche Zeller of Cheshire; a sister-in-law, Julia Maltagliati of Hillsdale, N.J.; a granddaughter, Michelle Zeller of California; three step-granddaughters, Valerie Lawson of Cheshire, Kimberly Wasuk of Dalton and Melanie Huber of Lenox; and several nieces, nephews, and cousins.
