Pascal J. DeMasi, 80

BENNINGTON, Vt. - Pascal Joseph DeMasi, 80, of Duffy Drive, died Saturday, Jan. 26, 2008, at Vermont Veterans Home after a long illness. He was the father of Christine Naughton of North Adams. Born in Northfield, Vt., on Nov. 24, 1927, son of Joseph and Mary Grace DeMasi, he graduated from St. Michael's High School and from Norwich University. He was a Navy aviator during World War II. Mr. DeMasi was employed by New England Electric Co. for 38 years, retiring as chief of operations. He was a member of St. John the Baptist Church in North Bennington for many years. In his younger years, he was a pilot and built his own plane. He enjoyed hunting and playing poker. Mr. DeMasi's main interest was his home and family. He and his wife, the former Theresa Marie Godbout, were married at the former Notre Dame Church on Feb. 16, 1952. Besides his wife and daughter, and her husband, Jeffrey, he leaves two other daughters and sons-in-law, Mary and Peter Wood of Canaan, N.H., and Ann and Darren White of Danville; four sons and daughters-in-law, Mark and Elizabeth DeMasi of Bennington, Paul and Elaine DeMasi of Petersburg, N.Y., Michael and Gretchen DeMasi of San Antonio and James and Suzanne DeMasi of Danville; a brother, the Rev. Michael DeMasi of Bennington; four sisters and their husbands, Donetta and Vincent Saccone of Roxbury, Marie Henderson of Cram, Texas, Catherine and Roland McKearney of Lunenburg and Barbara and John Bresnahan of Virginia, 30 grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren. Two brothers, the Rev. Andrew DeMasi and James DeMasi, and a sister, Philomena DeMasi, are deceased. FUNERAL NOTICE - A prayer service for Pascal J. DeMasi will be held Tuesday, Jan. 29, at MAHAR AND SON FUNERAL HOME, 628 Main St., Bennington, Vt., at 10:15 a.m., with a Mass of Resurrection at St. John the Baptist Church in North Bennington at 11. Interment with military honors will follow in the family lot in St. John's Cemetery in North Bennington. Friends may call at the funeral home today from 4 to 8 p.m. Memorial contributions made to the Bennington Project Independence Building Fund through the funeral home.
