LEE - Mabel I. Griffin, 92, formerly of Cape Street, died Sunday, Jan. 27, 2008, at Laurel Lake Center. Born in Stockbridge on Oct. 30, 1915, daughter of Graham and Paula Bauldoff Stafford, she was educated in Stockbridge schools. Mrs. Griffin moved to Lee in 1934 and, in the 1940s, was employed at the East Lee Inn. Her husband, Elmer T. Griffin, whom she married April 7, 1934, died Dec. 9, 2004. She leaves a son and daughter-in-law, Larry T. and Sally Fresia Griffin of Tyringham; two daughters, Shirley A. Benson of Lenox and Linda M. Renner of Sun City, Ariz.; a brother, Robert Stafford of Pittsfield, six grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren. FUNERAL NOTICE - The funeral for Mabel I. Griffin will be conducted Wednesday at 10 a.m. from Kelly Funeral Home by the Rev. Natalie Shiras, pastor of the Church on the Hill in Lenox. Burial will follow in Fairmount Cemetery in Lee. Visiting hours at the funeral home will be Tuesday from 4 to 7 p.m. In lieu of flowers, friends wishing may make donations to a charity of their choice.
