Richard E. Hartman, 80

NORTH ADAMS - Richard Earl Hartman, 80, of 546 Union St., died early Thursday morning, Feb. 14, 2008, at North Adams Regional Hospital. Born in Pittsfield on Dec. 1, 1927, son of Charles and Geneva Richards Hartman, he attended schools in Lenox and North Adams. An Army veteran of World War II, he served with the Army of Occupation in Austria. A baker, Mr. Hartman was the proprietor of the former Joanne's Bakery on Main Street and later worked at Molly's Bakery. He was last employed as a painter with David Wood painters. He also worked part time as a painter for his son. He was an avid Boston Red Sox fan and enjoyed watching them win the World Series in 2004 and 2007. He also enjoyed playing horseshoes. He and his wife, the former Marguerite Senecal, were married on Sept. 26, 1949, in the former Notre Dame Church. Besides his wife, he leaves two daughters, Jeanne Dorsky and her husband, Franklin, of North Clarendon, Vt., and Donna Hartman and her husband, Lewis Lorini, of Bradenton, Fla.; a son and daughter-in-law, Mark and Terry Hartman of North Adams; a sister, Dorothy Suthers of North Adams; three grandchildren, Ashlee Falco, Samantha Hartman and Nicholas Lorini, a great-granddaughter, Celia Falco, and nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by five brothers, Charles, William, Francis, Russell, and Paul Hartman, and two sisters, Helen Lemaire and Doris McPherson. FUNERAL NOTICE - Services for Richard Hartman will be private and there will be no calling hours.
