GREAT BARRINGTON - Iona E. Seely, 79, of East Street died Sunday, March 23, 2008, at Great Barrington Rehabilitation and Nursing Center. Born at the family home in South Egremont on July 30, 1928, daughter of William E. and Bess Chase Curtis, she attended local schools and graduated from the former Searles High School in Great Barrington in 1946. She lived for many years in Egremont and moved to Fort Myers, Fla., in 1986. She returned to Great Barrington earlier this year. Mrs. Seely was employed by First Agricultural Bank in Sheffield for 31 years, retiring as vice president in 1985. She had also worked for many years at the former Jug End Resort in South Egremont and for 20 years for the Great Barrington Fair Association until it ended in 1980. She attended South Egremont Congregational Church. She was a member of the American Cancer Society and the Women's Bankers Association. She enjoyed knitting, collecting sea shells on the beach and working on scrapbooks and terrariums. Her husband, Donald W. Seely, whom she married in 1972 at their home in North Egremont, died on July 18, 2004. She leaves her daughter Beth Seely of Great Barrington; a sister, Wilma Vosburgh of Egremont, and two granddaughters, Brittany E. Seely and Eastlynd Bates. FUNERAL NOTICE â€' A committal service will be held at a later date. The family will receive friends on Thursday, April 3, from 4 until 6 p.m. at Finnerty and Stevens Funeral Home in Great Barrington.
