CANAAN, N.Y. — Irma Emerson, 81, of Wild Wood Lane died Saturday, April 19, 2008, at Berkshire Medical Center in Pittsfield, Mass. Born in the Bronx on Sept. 21, 1926, daughter of Charles and Anna Dolowit, she graduated from high school in New York City and then from Hunter College. She earned her master's degree in social work from Columbia University, graduating Phi Beta Kappa. Mrs. Emerson retired in 1988 from the Berkshire Center for Families and Children, where she had worked for more than 20 years as director of professional services. She was a volunteer at the New Lebanon Library. She enjoyed reading and gardening. She and her husband, George Emerson, would have celebrated their 30th wedding anniversary in July. Besides her husband, she leaves two sons, Fred Landa of Albany and Carl Landa of Saratoga Springs; a daughter, Cady Landa of Andover, Mass.; two stepsons, Christopher Emerson and Scott Emerson, both of Pittsfield, and two grandchildren, Paige Emerson and Max Castleman FUNERAL NOTICE — There will be no public services or calling hours.
