Lola M. Nourse, 92
NEW MARLBOROUGH â€' Lola M. Nourse, 92, a longtime resident of New Marlborough, died Sunday, June 29, 2008, at Great Barrington Rehabilitation and Nursing Center, where she had resided since March 2004.
Born in Great Barrington on Nov. 22, 1915, daughter of Frank and Carrie Scutt Goewey, she attended school in New Marlborough.
Mrs. Nourse married her husband, Arthur D. Nourse, on Oct. 3, 1935, in Hillsdale, N.Y. They moved to Great Barrington-Mill River Road shortly thereafter and lived there for many years. Her husband died on Sept. 6, 1987. She later resided with her family in Mill River village and then at Hyde Place in Lee before entering the nursing home as a result of a broken hip.
She leaves her son, Howard E. Nourse and his, wife Patricia, of Monterey; a brother, Frank Goewey of Harrisburg, N.C.; a sister, Carrie VanDeusen of Sheffield; a grandson, Neil A. Nourse and his wife, Helen, of New Marlborough; a granddaughter, Thea M. Ross of West Stockbridge, and four great-grandchildren, Keith, Joshua and Evan Ross and Mary Katherine "Kate" Nourse.
She was predeceased by her siblings Emma Funk, Eldred Goewey and Everett Goewey.
FUNERAL NOTICE â€' Funeral services for Lola M. Nourse will be conducted on Wednesday, July 2, at 11 a.m. from Finnerty and Stevens Funeral Home in Great Barrington, by the Rev. Brian Care, pastor of United Church of New Marlborough. Burial will follow in Hartsville Cemetery.
The family will receive friends on Wednesday, July 2, from 10 until the time of the service at the funeral home.
