Elfrieda Sassen, 92
ALFORD, Mass. â€' Elfrieda Sassen, 92, of East Road died Saturday, Aug. 30, 2008, at Fairview Commons in Great Barrington.
Born in Estonia on Oct. 4, 1915, she grew up there and emigrated to the United States following World War II.
Mrs. Sassen worked as an assistant in his jewelry business in New York, where she met her husband, George Sassen. They moved the Berkshires in the 1960s.
Besides her husband, she leaves two sons, Roger Sassen of College Station, Texas, and Kenneth Sassen of Fairbanks, Alaska; a daughter, Pia McDermott of Somerset, N.J., three grandchildren and a great-grandchild.
FUNERAL NOTICE â€' A graveside service will be held on Friday, Sept. 5, at 1 p.m. at Hillside Cemetery in Cortlandt, N.Y.
There will be no calling hours.
