Robert J. Reardon, 73
NORTH ADAMS, Mass. â€' Robert Joseph Reardon, 73, of 123 Beaver St., died Friday evening, Oct. 17, 2008, at Sweet Brook Care Centers in Williamstown. He had been the veterans' agent for the city of North Adams.
Born in North Adams on April 23, 1935, son of Dennis Joseph and Catherine Ann Morrissey Reardon, he attended the former St. Joseph's High School and St. Anselm's College.
An Army veteran of the Korean War, he was honorably discharged in 1960.
Mr. Reardon retired as a teacher from the Adams-Cheshire Regional School District in 1993.
He was a communicant of St. Anthony's Parish. He was past commander of VFW Post 996 and a member of Post 125 American Legion, the Elks, Eagles and the Greylock Club.
He and his wife, the former Barbara J. O'Brien, were married on March 29, 1980.
Besides his wife, he leaves a daughter, Michelle DeRose and her husband, Larry, of North Adams; a son, Scott Lizotte and his life partner, John Lombard, of Athol; two sisters, Eileen Prevey and her husband, Rodney, and Helen Babeu and her husband, Raymond; three grandchildren, Nicholas DeRose, Scott Lizotte Jr. and Alisa Lizotte; two great-grandchildren Alisa, Brianna and Elijah, and many nieces and nephews, grandnieces and grandnephews.
FUNERAL NOTICE â€' The funeral for Mr. Reardon will be held Saturday, Oct. 25, at 9 from Flynn & Dagnoli-Montagna Home for Funerals, 521 West Main St., North Adams, MA, followed by a Liturgy of Christian Burial celebrated at 10 in St. Anthony's Church by the Rev. William F. Cyr, pastor.
Burial will follow in Southview Cemetery, North Adams.
Calling hours are Thursday, Oct. 23, from 4 to 8 at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Massachusetts Brain Injury Association of Massachusetts through the funeral home.
