Gerald J. Baclawski, 71

NORTH ADAMS, Mass. â€' Gerald Joseph Baclawski, 71, of 67 College Ave. died Saturday, Nov. 22, 2008, at Berkshire Medical Center in Pittsfield. Born in Poland on Feb. 22, 1937, son of Joseph and Czeslawa "Jessie" Kulisz Baclawski, he came to the United States with his family at the age of 10. He attended schools in Poland and North Adams, and graduated from the former St. Joseph's High School. An Army veteran, he served as a private. Mr. Baclawski was employed at the former General Cable Co. in Williamstown for 30 years. In his younger years, he worked at the former Wall-Streeter Shoe Co. He also was a caretaker for several private estates in Williamstown. He was a communicant of St. Francis of Assisi Church. He also was a longtime member of the Polish National Alliance in Adams and of the Fraternal Order of Eagles Aerie 310 in North Adams. He was an avid Boston Red Sox fan and a fisherman. He and his wife, the former Ellen Shea, were married Oct. 21, 1967, in St. Francis' Church. Besides his wife, he leaves a son, Eric M. Baclawski of North Adams, his primary caregiver; a stepgranddaughter, Candice Voghel, a stepgreat-granddaughter, and several nieces and nephews. FUNERAL NOTICE â€' Services for Mr. Baclawski will take place Wednesday at 11 a.m. at Flynn & Dagnoli-Montagna Home for Funerals, West Chapels, 521 West Main St., North Adams. Burial will follow in Southview Cemetery. Calling hours at the funeral home will be Tuesday from 4 to 7. Memorial donations are suggested for the VNA & Hospice of Northern Berkshire through the funeral home.
