Raymond J. Gauthier Jr., 69

GREAT BARRINGTON, Mass. â€' Raymond Joseph Gauthier Jr., 69, of Paramus, N.J., formerly of Great Barrington, died on Friday, Dec. 5, 2008, in Paramus. Born in Great Barrington on Feb. 1, 1939, son of Raymond J. Gauthier Sr. and Helen Gillette Gauthier, he attended local schools and graduated in 1957 from the former Searles High School, where he was a star basketball player. He was voted the most popular boy by his senior class and he and his high school sweetheart, Karen Storti, were crowned king and queen of their senior prom. He enlisted in the Marine Corps on Sept. 28, 1957, and was honorably discharged on June 28, 1960. An electrician, Mr. Gauthier owned Gauthier Electric from 1964 to 1987, when he joined the International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers. As a union member, he worked all over the country on large projects. He loved hunting and traveling, and was an avid New York Yankee fan. He and Miss Storti were married Feb. 7, 1959, at Corpus Christi Church in Housatonic. Besides his wife, he leaves a son, Jeffrey R. Gauthier of Austin; two daughters, Tamara V. Gauthier and Kelly I. Gauthier, both of Paramus; a brother, Charles Gauthier of Fallon, N.J.; three brothers-in-law, Thomas G. Storti of Hillsdale, N.Y., Brian E. Storti and his wife, Linda, of San Roman, Calif., and Gary P. Storti and his wife, Jennifer, of Great Barrington, and several aunts, uncles, nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by another brother, William Gauthier. FUNERAL NOTICE â€' A Liturgy of Christian Burial will be celebrated for Mr. Gauthier on Friday, Dec. 12, at 10 at St. Peter's Church in Great Barrington by the Rev. William Murphy. Burial with military honors will follow at St. Peter's Cemetery in Great Barrington. The family will receive friends on Thursday, Dec. 11, from 4 until 7 at Finnerty and Stevens Funeral Home in Great Barrington.
