Antonio DiTomasso

Antonio DiTomasso, 89, of 14 Westminster St. died yesterday at Springside of Pittsfield, where he was admitted June 29. Born in Watervliet, N.Y., on May 17, 1912, son of Nicola and Concetta Polce DiTomasso, he attended schools there until 1919, when he moved to Italy and completed his education. Mr. DiTomasso returned to Watervliet in 1930 and was employed by the Watervliet Arsenal until 1947, when he moved to Pittsfield. He worked at GE in the power transformer department and in naval ordnance, retiring in 1974 with 27 years of service. He was a communicant of Mount Carmel Church and a member of the GE Quarter Century and GE Pensioners' clubs. He and his wife, the former Delfina Polce, celebrated their 53rd wedding anniversary July 29. They were married in La Chiesa Maggiore di San Valentino, province of Pescara, Italy. Besides his wife, he leaves a daughter, Elaine Ricciarini of Pittsfield; a sister, Concetta Rebetti of Tortuna, Italy; four brothers, Pietro DiTomasso of Pittsfield, Gabriele DiTomasso of Tortuna and Valentino Di Tomasso and Giuseppe DiTomasso, both of Buenos Aires, Argentina, and a grandson. Also survived by nieces, nephews, grandnieces and grandnephews. Predeceased by sisters Rose Mazzacco and Maria Sericolo. The funeral will be Thursday at 9 at FLYNN & DAGNOLI-BENCIVENGA FUNERAL HOME, 5 Elm St., Pittsfield, followed by a Liturgy of Christian Burial at 10 at Our Lady of Mount Carmel Church celebrated by the Rev. Pius C. Murray, CSS. Burial will follow in St. Joseph's Cemetery, Pittsfield. Calling hours at the funeral home will be Wednesday from 4 to 7. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations are suggested for Mount Carmel Church through the funeral home.
