Carolyn J. Derby, 62
PLAINFIELD, Conn. — Carolyn Jean Derby, 62, of 188 Canterbury Road died Monday, January 12, 2009, at her home.
Born in Adams, Mass., on Nov. 28, 1946, daughter of John E. and Elaine A. Dupereault Tremblay, she attended schools in North Adams, Mass., including Drury High School.
Mrs. Derby worked at the former JJ Newberry department store in North Adams as an assistant manager and also as a teacher's aide. Primarily a homemaker, she was a devoted wife, mother and grandmother.
She was a communicant of the former Notre Dame Church in North Adams.
She leaves her husband, George E. Derby, whom she married on Nov. 6, 1964; two sons, Peter Derby of Pittsfield, Mass., and William Derby, and his wife, Shannon, with whom she resided; two daughters, Peggy LeCroy and her husband, Leon LeCroy Jr., of Adams and Rebecca Wells and her husband, John Wells Sr., of Norwich, Conn.; five sisters, Susan Butler, Linda Reynolds and Sally Reese, all of North Adams, Joyce Miller of Deltona, Fla., and Janet Tremblay of Swansboro, N.C.; a brother, John Tremblay of North Adams, 10 grandchildren and nieces and nephews.
FUNERAL NOTICE — The funeral for Mrs. Derby will be Saturday, Jan. 17, at 8:15 from Flynn & Dagnoli-Montagna Home for Funerals, Central Chapels, 74 Marshall St., North Adams, followed by a Funeral Mass at 9 at St. Elizabeth of Hungary Church, formerly St. Anthony's Church. Burial will follow in Southview Cemetery. Calling hours at the funeral home will be Friday, Jan. 16, from 5 to 7. Memorial donations may be made to Shriner's Children's Hospital in care of the funeral home.
