Edward C. Wood, 83
WILLIAMSTOWN, Mass. — Edward Clifford Wood, 83, of Village Circle Southwest, Winter Haven, Fla., formerly of Williamstown, died Monday, Jan. 26, 2009, in Winter Haven.
Born in North Adams on Sept. 25, 1925, son of James and Dorothy Hiser Wood, he attended school in Williamstown.
A Navy veteran of World War II, he served in a Construction Battalion (Seabees).
Mr. Wood owned J.B. Wood Plumbing & Heating Co.
He was a member of the Williamstown American Legion and Lions Club. He enjoyed singing and playing golf.
He leaves his wife of 62 years, the former Agnes Harrington; a sister, Martha Wood Finnegan of Plymouth, and two nieces, Dana and Courtney Finnegan.
His brother, John "Jackie" Wood, was killed in World War II.
FUNERAL NOTICE — Services for Mr. Wood will take place Wednesday, Feb. 4, at 10 at Sherman Burbank Memorial Chapel in Williamstown. Burial will follow in Eastlawn Cemetery. Flynn & Dagnoli-Montagna home for Funerals, West Chapels, 521 West Main St, North Adams, is in charge of arrangements.
