Gary W. Lesniak, 59
NORTH ADAMS, Mass. — Gary William Lesniak, 59, of 150 Ashland St. died Sunday, Feb. 1, 2009, at home after a long battle with cancer.
Born in Pittsfield on Jan. 16, 1950, son of Shirley Barnard Lesniak of North Adams and the late Chester Lesniak, he attended schools in North Adams and graduated from the former St. Joseph's High School with the class of 1968. He then attended the Berklee School of Music in Boston. He resided in California until returning to North Adams 10 years ago.
Mr. Lesniak worked for many years for GTE Telecommunications Co. in California.
He was a communicant of the former St. Francis of Assisi Church. He was an accomplished guitar player and had a passion for music. He was an avid Los Angeles Dodgers and San Diego Chargers fan.
Besides his mother, he leaves a son, Alexander Lesniak of Utah; a brother, Richard Lesniak and his wife, Diane, of Clarksburg; a sister, Cheryl Lillie of North Adams, and three nieces, Jessica Catalano of Pittsfield and Heather and Hilary Lesniak, both of Clarksburg.
FUNERAL NOTICE — A Liturgy of Christian Burial will be celebrated Friday, Feb. 6, at 11 a.m. in St. Elizabeth of Hungary Church, North Adams, by the Rev. William F. Cyr, pastor. Burial will be in the Spring in Southview Cemetery. There will be no calling hours.
