Audrey H. Pepino, 87
GREAT BARRINGTON, Mass. - Audrey H. Pepino, 87, formerly of Gilmore Avenue in Great Barrington, died Tuesday, June 27, 2009, at Great Barrington Rehabilitation and Nursing Center, where she has resided for the last seven years.
Born on September 24, 1921 in Huntingdon, Quebec, daughter of Henry and Lillian Taylor Henderson, she was educated in schools in Quebec and graduated from Huntingdon Academy. She moved to Great Barrington in the early 1950s.
Primarily a homemaker, Mrs. Pepino became employed by what was then Sears after her children were all in school. She retired from Sears in 1986. As a young woman, she had worked at the Bank of Montreal, where she met her future husband, Ralph Pepino, who frequently traveled to Canada to purchase cattle.
Her husband, whom she married in 1951, died Dec. 9, 1990.
She was a member of St. James' Episcopal Church and was very active in its Altar Guild and women's groups. She also enjoyed knitting and taking care of her grandchildren.
She leaves two daughters, Lyn McGuire Hankey and her husband, Dennis, of Sheffield and Joan Letourneau and her husband, Joseph, of Copake, N.Y.; a son, Richard Pepino of Sheffield; a stepdaughter Elaine Tenney of Egremont;
three grandchildren, James Toby Zucco and his partner, Tasha, of Great Barrington and Regina Pepino and Eric Pepino, both of Sheffield, and a great-grandchild, Taylor Zucco of Great Barrington.
FUNERAL NOTICE â€' Funeral services for Mrs. Pepino will be private and there will be no calling hours. Donations may be made to the St. James' Church Restoration Fund in care of Finnerty & Stevens Funeral Home, 426 Main St., Great Barrington, MA 01230, which is in charge of arrangements.
