Carl L. Briggs, 66
FLORIDA, Mass. — Carl Lee Briggs, 66, of 76 B Monroe Road died Friday, Aug. 7, 2009, at Williamstown Commons.
Born in Lenox Dale on July 4, 1943, son of Wesley and Dorothy Knights Briggs, he attended schools in Savoy, Florida and North Adams and graduated from Drury High School with the class of 1964.
He served in the National Guard.
Mr. Briggs was employed by Allied Waste Services in Cheshire for a short time until his retirement in 2005. Before that, he worked at Greylock Ice and Fuel, a the former Widen Tannery, former Sprague Electric Co. in North Adams, Krutiak Wood Products in Clarksburg and Mundy's Mobile Home Park in North Adams.
He enjoyed fishing and coin collecting and was a life member of the Bass Anglers Sportsman Society. He was an avid Boston Red Sox fan and was on a bowling team at Mount Greylock Bowl.
He leaves two brothers, Ronald Briggs of Florida, with whom he made his home, and Wesley Briggs of Savoy; two sisters, Beverly Edmundson of San Angelo, Texas, and Sharon Martin of Williamstown, and nieces and nephews.
He was predeceased by his brother Bruce Briggs and sister Cheryl Kinney, and four infant siblings.
FUNERAL NOTICE — The funeral for Mr. Briggs will be Wednesday, Aug. 12, at 11 from Flynn & Dagnoli-Montagna Home for Funerals, West Chapels, 521 West Main St., North Adams. Burial will follow in Church Cemetery in the town of Florida.
Calling hours at the funeral home will be Tuesday, Aug. 11, from 4 to 7 p.m. Donations may be made Hope Lodge, Florida Volunteer Fire Department or VNA & Hospice of North Berkshire in care of the funeral home.
