Marie M. Rowett, 83

FLORIDA, Mass. — Marie Marguerite "Dolly" Rowett, 83, of 229 Central Shaft Road died Wednesday, Oct. 7, 2009, at North Adams Regional Hospital. Born in Warren, R.I., on Feb. 24, 1926, daughter of Louis Joseph and Marie Louise Boeiniger Poirot, he attended schools in Florida and Drury High School in North Adams. Mrs. Rowett was employed for 48 years by the former Sprague Electric Co. in North Adams until her retirement in 1987. She was a communicant of St. Elizabeth of Hungary Church in North Adams. She was an avid fan of Engerbert Humperdinck. Her husband, Reginald Rowett, whom she married May 28, 1949, died on April 6, 2007. She leaves a son, david Louis Rowett and his wife, Kathy, of Florida; a daughter, Karen Louise Cooper and her husband, Bruce, of Florida; five sisters, Marceline Rooney, Adeline Berry, Claire Burdick and Rita Dugal, all of Florida, and Sandra Bergeron of North Adams; three brothers, John Poirot of Williamstown, Henry Poirot of Adams and Charles Poirot of Florida; four grandchildren, Jennifer Bean and her husband, Seth, of North Adams, Tyler Cooper and Matthew Rowett, both of Florida, and Ileana Whiteman of Hinsdale; a great-granddaughter, Lillian Bean of North Adams, and brothers- and sisters-in-law, nieces, nephews, grandnieces, grandnephews and cousins. She was predeceased by her grandson Charles Cooper and brother Louis Poirot Sr. FUNERAL NOTICE — The funeral for Mrs. Rowett will be Tuesday, Oct. 13, at 8:15 a.m. from Flynn & Dagnoli-Montagna Home For Funerals, West Chapels, 521 West Main St., North Adams, followed by a Funeral Mass at 9 at St. Elizabeth of Hungary Church. Burial will follow in Church Cemetery in Florida. Calling hours will be Monday, Oct. 12, from 4 to 7 at the funeral home. Memorial contributions may be made to the Florida Volunteer Fire Department in care of the funeral home.
