Jane T. Rice, 72
NORTH ADAMS, Mass. — Jane Theresa Rice, 72, of 100 Barbour St. died Sunday, Nov. 15, 2009, at North Adams Regional Hospital.
Born in North Adams on Feb. 19, 1937, a daughter of Thomas Karrey and Eva Chenail Karrey, she attended schools in North Adams and graduated from Drury High School.
Mrs. Rice was a nursery school teacher at Jack & Jill Nursery and the Chalifoux Nursery School and provided child care during the day for several families in the area. She also had been a hostess at the former Taconic Restaurant in Williamstown. In her earlier years, she was employed by the former Baystate Clothing Store in Adams and the former Sprague Electric Co.
She loved spending time with her family and grandchildren.
She leaves her daughter, Allison Rougeau and her husband, Glenn, of North Adams; her son, Preston Rice and his wife, Wendi Heemer, of Atlanta, and her sister, Nancy Nagle of Mamaroneck, N.J.
Her twin brother James Karrey died April 27, 2008.
FUNERAL NOTICE — Funeral services to celebrate the life Mrs. Rice will take place Friday, Nov. 20, at noon at Sherman Burbank Memorial Chapel on the grounds of Eastlawn Cemetery in Williamstown. Burial will follow in Eastlawn Cemetery.
Calling hours will be from 11 until the time of the service at the chapel. Memorial donations are suggested for the St. Jude's Children's Hospital through the Flynn & Dagnoli-Montagna Home for Funerals, West Chapels, 521 West Main St., North Adams, MA 01247.
