Thomas O. Smith, 70
GREAT BARRINGTON, Mass. — Thomas Orlando Smith, 70, of Cottage Street died Wednesday, Dec. 2, 2009, at Great Barrington Rehabilitation and Nursing Center.
Born in Great Barrington on May 17, 1939, son of Orlando and Mary Palmer Smith, he attended local schools.
Mr. Smith was a longtime employee of Roger's Trucking in Great Barrington.
An avid outdoorsman, he was a member of the NRA and was an enthusiastic hunter and fisher. He also enjoyed stock cars and spent many hours at Lebanon Valley Speed Way in New York.
He leaves his wife, former Judith Wyman Smith; two daughters, Jennifer Gallagher of Great Barrington and Sara VanDeusen and her husband, Ronald; a sister, Judith Parks and her husband, Walter, of Monterey, his grandchildren Jeremy Ostrander and his wife, Katie, Jason Ostrander, Rory and Messina Gallagher and several nieces and nephews.
FUNERAL NOTICE — Funeral services celebrating the life of Mr. Smith will be conducted on Tuesday, Dec. 8, at 1 from Finnerty & Stevens Funeral Home in Great Barrington by Belle Fox Martin. Burial will follow in Lime Rock Cemetery in Salisbury, Conn.
The family will receive friends on Tuesday from noon until the time of the service at the funeral home.
