Annina R. Dufraine, 96
NORTH ADAMS, Mass. â€' Annina Rose "Lena" (Zappula) Dufraine, 96, of 180 Regan Road, Vernon, Conn., died Thursday, Feb. 4, 2010 at the Vernon Manor Nursing Home.
She was born in North Adams on May 18, 1913, daughter of Carmelo and Vata (Agosta) Zappula. She attended North Adams schools including Drury High School.
Mrs. Dufraine worked at the former Sprague Electric Co. and Shapiro and Sons for a short time. She primarily was a homemaker and a devoted wife, mother and grandmother.
She was a communicant of the former St. Anthony of Padua Church.
She was the widow of Lawrence A. Dufraine, who died in 1950. They were married in 1939.
Survivors include two sons, Lawrence Dufraine, and his wife, Cynthia, of Londonderry, N.H., and Richard Dufraine of Easthampton, Mass; a daughter, Nancy Dufraine, and her partner, Kathryn Ford, of Olympia, Wash.; four grandchildren, Kathleen Dufraine, Thomas Dufraine, Richard Dufraine and Michelle Simpson; twin great-grandchildren Connor Lawrence and Leah Nicole Dufraine and Danny Parker and Heather Dufraine; sisters Minnie Birchfield of Taylor, S.C. and Anna Dessaint of Windsor Locks, Conn.; and numerous nieces and nephews.
A grandson, Lawrence Dufraine, died Aug. 1, 2004. She also was pre-deceased by three brothers and one sister: Frank Zappula, Bucky Baucasi, Louis Baucasi and Mary Baucasi.
FUNERAL NOTICE: A Liturgy of Christian Burial for Lena Dufraine will be celebrated Saturday, Feb. 13, 2010 at 11 a.m. at St. Elizabeth of Hungary Church. Burial will be in the spring in Southview cemetery. Calling hours will be at Flynn & Dagnoli-Montagna Home for Funerals Central Chapels, 74 Marshall St., North Adams, from 9 to 10:30 a.m. Memorial contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society in care of the funeral home.
