Josephine Galipeau, 81

NORTH ADAMS, Mass. — Josephine "Kelly" Galipeau, 81, of 21 Owens Ave. died Monday, April 5, 2010, at home. Born in North Adams on Feb. 17, 1929, daughter of Michael and Rosina Vigna Magnifico, she attended North Adams schools. Mrs. Galipeau was employed at the former Sprague Electric Co for almost 50 years, retiring when the plant closed. She was a communicant of the former St. Anthony of Padua Church. Her husband, Philip L. Galipeau, whom she married April 24, 1954, died May 20, 1998. She leaves a daughter, Rosalie Witherell and her husband, Bruce, of Cheshire; a son, David P. Galipeau of Stamford, Vt.; three brothers, Paul Magnifico and Joseph Magnifico, both of North Adams, and Orlando Magnifico of Adams; a sister, Natalie Mazzuchi of North Adams; three grandchildren, Dawn Brophy of Pittsfield, William Galipeau of North Adams and James Witherell of Cheshire; three great-grandchildren, Michael, Alexis and Bryan Brophy, nieces and nephews. Her brother John Magnifico is deceased. FUNERAL NOTICE — A Liturgy of Christian Burial for Mrs. Galipeau will be celebrated Friday, April 9, at 11 a.m. at St. Elizabeth of Hungary Church. Burial will follow in Southview Cemetery. Calling hours will be held Friday morning from 9 to 10:30 at Flynn & Dagnoli-Montagna Home for Funerals, Central Chapels, 74 Marshall St., North Adams. Memorial contributions may be made to St. Jude's Children's Hospital in care of the funeral home.
