Judith A. Denning, 69
NORTH ADAMS, Mass. — Judith Ann Denning, 69, of North Adams died peacefully Friday evening, Dec. 10, 2010, of complications from chronic obstructive pulmonary disease, or COPD, at North Adams Commons, where she had resided since 2005.
Born in Webster on March 13, 1941, a daughter Anthony and Margaret Wajer, she graduated from Bartlett High School in Webster with the class of 1960. She had lived in Dudley before moving to the Northern Berkshires in 1984.
Primarily a homemaker and devoted wife and mother, Mrs. Denning had also worked in a few part-time positions over the years, most notably as a cafeteria assistant at the Dudley Elementary School during the 1970s.
In recent years, she was a regular volunteer for the North Adams Tourist Booth and, while at North Adams Commons, was a member and president of various resident and social committees. She was a member of the Catholic Community in North Adams and often contributed to the bazaars, various committees and events.
Her husband, Neil Richard Denning, whom she married on Nov. 9, 1963, died Feb. 7, 2000.
She leaves a son, Mark Denning and his girlfriend, Becky Sylvester, of North Adams; a brother, Jack Wajer and his wife, Theresa of Dudley; three grandchildren whom she cherished dearly, Brett, Maeve and Cady Denning; her former daughter in-law, Donna Brule Denning of Clarksburg; a brother in-law, Jim Denning of Oxford; a sister-in-law, Kathy Messier of Worcester; nieces, nephews, grandnieces, grandnephews, cousins and many longtime friends.
FUNERAL NOTICE — Calling hours for Mrs. Denning will be Wednesday, Dec. 15, from 5 to 7 at the Flynn & Dagnoli-Montagna Home for Funerals, West Chapels. A Liturgy of Christian Burial will be celebrated Thursday, Dec. 16, at 11 at St. Elizabeth's Church in North Adams. A private burial will take place in the spring.
