Nello L. Zanett, 88
NORTH ADAMS, Mass. — Nello Lewis Zanett, 88, of 611 State Road died Saturday, Aug. 20, 2011, at Williamstown Commons.
Born in North Adams on Sept. 4, 1922, son of Luigi and Clementina Luterotti Zanett, he attended local schools including Drury High School.
Mr. Zanett worked at the former Sprague Electric Co. for 27 years until his retirement.
He was a communicant of St. Elizabeth of Hungary Church and was a member of the Greylock Community Club. He enjoyed ice skating, ice fishing, bowling, golf and softball. He was a New York Yankees fan.
His wife, the former Serafina Mary LaVersa, whom he married on July 8, 1950, died on Oct. 12, 1993.
He leaves a daughter, Gloria McClay and her husband, Michael, of Dalton; a sister, Rita Beebe of North Adams; three grandchildren, Adam Pires of Norfolk, Va., and Douglas McClay and Jodie McClay, both of Pittsfield; three great-grandchildren, Laura, Emily, and Howard, and nieces and nephews.
His sister, Alma Devio, predeceased him.
FUNERAL NOTICE — The funeral for Mr. Zanett will be Saturday, Aug. 27, at 8:15 a.m. from Flynn & Dagnoli-Montagna Home for Funerals, Central Chapels, 74 Marshall St., North Adams, followed by Funeral Mass at 9 at St. Elizabeth of Hungary Church. Burial will be private in Southview Cemetery.
Calling hours will be Friday, Aug. 26, from 4 to 7 at the funeral home. Memorial contributions may be made to the Myelodysplastic Syndrome Foundation in care of the funeral home.
