Merrill L. Cook, 92
NORTH ADAMS, Mass. — Merrill Linwood Cook, 92, of 1360 South Church St. died Tuesday, Aug. 23, 2011, at Central Vermont Medical Center in Berlin.
Born at home in North Adams on June 26, 1919, son of Howard and Grace Burnett Cook, he graduated from Drury High School.
Mr. Cook retired in 1981 after 16 years as a letter carrier for the U.S. Postal Service in Williamstown. After his retirement, he drove a school bus in Adams for many years.
He enjoyed woodworking and gardening.
His wife, the former Ruth Kline, whom he married in 1948 in First Baptist Church, died in April 22, 1986.
He leaves three sons, Keith Cook and his wife, Sheryl of Greenwich, N.Y., Craig Cook and his wife, Barbara, of West Danville, Vt., and Kimball Cook and his wife, Karen, of the town of Florida; a son-in-law, George Foster of Shushan, N.Y.; 10 grandchildren, three great-grandchildren and nieces and nephews.
Mr. Cook was predeceased by his daughter, Debrey Foster, his son Brent Cook, his grandchildren Rebecca Cook, in infancy, and Anderson Foster, and his brothers, Roy Cook and Edward Cook.
FUNERAL NOTICE — The funeral for Mr. Cook will be Friday, Aug. 26, at 2 p.m. Flynn & Dagnoli-Montagna Home for Funerals, West Chapels, 521 West Main St., North Adams. Burial will follow in Bellevue Cemetery in Adams.
There will be no calling hours. Memorial contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society in care of the funeral home.
