Rene F. Konopka, 93
NORTH ADAMS, Mass. — Rene Florence Konopka, 93, of North Adams died Sunday, Sept. 11, 2011, at Berkshire Medical Center.
Born in North Adams on July 19, 1918, daughter of Sylibert and Marie Gilbert Bombardier, she attended the former Notre Dame Parochial School.
Mrs. Konopka first worked at the Hoosac Cotton Mill and was last employed by the former Sprague Electric Co. for 34 years until her retirement in 1980.
She was a communicant of the former St. Francis of Assisi Church and was a member of the Sprague Quarter Century Club and the Sprague Retirees.
Her husband, Ernest William Konopka, whom she married on July 24, 1936, died on June 10, 1981.
She leaves her niece, Marie Davis; her nephew, Edward Konopka Jr., and her close friend and caregiver, Donna Casuscelli and her husband, Frank, all of North Adams.
Her brother, George Bombardier, and her sister, Rose Bombardier, are deceased.
FUNERAL NOTICE — A Liturgy of Christian Burial for Mrs. Konopka will be celebrated on Friday, Sept. 16, at 11 a.m. at St. Elizabeth of Hungary Church. Burial will follow in Southview Cemetery.
There will be no calling hours. Flynn & Dagnoli-Montagna Home for Funerals, Central Chapels, at 74 Marshall St., North Adams, is in charge of arrangements.
