Elisabeth A. Donaj, 95

ADAMS, Mass. — Elisabeth A. Donaj, 95, of 5 Elm Terrace, Greenfield, formerly of Adams, died Saturday, Oct. 15, 2011, at Williamstown Commons. Born in Germany on Feb. 9, 1916, daughter of Hans and Anna Jager Rehmann, she attended schools in Germany and came to the United States in January 1952. She graduated from the medical assistant program at McCann Technical School in 1963. She resided in Adams, then in the state of Florida, until moving to Greenfield in 1991. Mrs. Donaj was last employed as a medical assistant in Hallandale, Fla. She also worked as a private-duty baby nurse. While in Germany, she had worked as a draftsman in the ship-building industry. While living in Adams, she was a Girl Scout leader and a VISTA volunteer. She was a member of St. Paul's Lutheran Church in Greenfield and sang in its choir. She was an active member of the Democratic Party and enjoyed ceramics and writing. She leaves a son, Marcel Donaj of Shaftsbury, Vt.; three daughters, Renate Shafer of Williamstown, Christine Langenback of Land O' Lakes, Fla., and Virginia Izquierdo of Poway, Calif., 15 grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren. Her daughter Traute Demers and a brother, Otto Rehmann, are deceased. FUNERAL NOTICE — Services for Mrs. Donaj will be private. Memorial contributions may be made to the Stamford (Vt.) Commmunity Church in care of Flynn & Dagnoli-Montagna Home for Funerals, Central Chapels, 74 Marshall St. North Adams, MA 01247.
