James W. Schmehl, 66
NORTH ADAMS, Mass. — James W. Schmehl, 66, of 61 State Road died Monday, Nov. 21, 2011, at North Adams Regional Hospital.
Born in Perth Amboy, N.J., on Feb. 16, 1945, a son of Robert and Vera Petersen Schmehl, he graduated from Mount Greylock Regional High School in Williamstown in 1963. He also resided in New Hampshire for 25 years.
An Air Force veteran, he served in the communication division and was stationed in Greenland.
Mr. Schmehl was a computer technician and consultant for several computer companies in Massachusetts. He was last employed at Holy Family Terrance as the superintendent of the building.
He loved car shows and hot rods and was an avid NASCAR fan.
He leaves his wife, the former Melinda Williams, whom he married May 27, 1972; a son, Jeffrey B. Schmehl and his wife, Angela, of Grand Isle, Vt.; a sister, Ginger Gemoets and her husband, Bob, of Colorado; a brother, Gene Schmehl and his wife, Beth, of Williamstown, and nieces and nephews.
He was predeceased a brother and sister, Robert Schmehl and Barbara Benson.
FUNERAL NOTICE — Calling hours will be Saturday, Nov. 26, from 5 to 7 at Flynn & Dagnoli-Montagna Home for Funerals, West Chapels, 521 West Main St., North Adams. Memorial donations are suggested for the American Cancer Society through the funeral home.
