Elizabeth M. Vigna, 91
NORTH ADAMS, Mass. — Elizabeth Mary "Betty" Vigna, 91, of Parker, Colo., a former longtime city resident, died Monday, March 19, 2012, at her home.
Born in Sheffield, Ill., on Oct. 3, 1920, daughter of Bruno and Chiara Perini Mangiardi, she attended schools in Brognaturo, Italy, until age 14, when she came to the United States and settled in North Adams. She moved to Colorado in 2002.
Mrs. Vigna worked at the former Sprague Electric Co. for many years.
She was a communicant of St. Anthony of Padua Church and a member of its Rosary Society. She was also an active member of the North Adams Garden Club. Betty enjoyed baking and knitting.
Her husband, Thomas Vigna, whom she married on June 1, 1940, died April 1, 2000.
She leaves a daughter, Diane Sweeney Kilthau of Parker, with whom she resided; a son, Thomas Vigna Jr. of Noblesville, Ind.; five grandchildren, Leslie Vigna, Melissa Sweeney, Jennifer Sweeney, Rebecca Vigna and Jeffrey Vigna; five great-grandchildren and nieces and nephews.
Two brothers and two sisters are deceased.
FUNERAL NOTICE — A Liturgy of Christian Burial for Mrs. Vigna will be celebrated Thursday, March 22, at 11 a.m. at St. Elizabeth of Hungary Church. Burial will be in Southview Cemetery.
There will be no calling hours. Flynn & Dagnoli-Montagna Home for Funerals, Central Chapels, 74 Marshall St., North Adams, Mass., is in charge of arrangements.
