Bernice Gentile, 90
NORTH ADAMS, Mass. — Bernice Gentile, 90, of 325 Walnut St. died Friday, March 30, 2012, at Sweet Brook Care Centers in Williamstown.
Born in Hoosick Falls, N.Y., on June 4, 1921, the daughter of John and Anna Palubuckete Adams, she attended St. Mary's Academy there.
Mrs. Gentile was employed for 42 years at the former Sprague Electric Co., retiring in 1986. Before that, she worked in Hoosick Falls and at the former Pownal Tanning Co. in North Pownal, Vt.
She was a communicant of the former St. Anthony of Padua Church and was a longtime volunteer at its annual bazaar. She was also a member of the Sprague Retirees and Sprague Quarter Century Club.
Her husband, Gaitano Thomas "Ike" Gentile, whom she married Sept. 1, 1945, died Feb. 28, 1993.
She leaves a son, Thomas J. Gentile of Kittery Point, Maine; a brother, John Adams of Hoosick Falls; six grandchildren, nine great-grandchildren and nieces and nephews.
Her son Joseph Thomas Gentile and five siblings, Edna Bushee, Anna Cook, Walter Adams, Edward Adams and Joseph Adams, predeceased her.
FUNERAL NOTICE — Funeral services for Mrs. Gentile will take place Tuesday, April 3, at 10:15 a.m. from Flynn & Dagnoli-Montagna Home for Funerals, Central Chapels, 74 Marshall St., followed by a Liturgy of Christian Burial at 11 from St. Elizabeth of Hungary Church. Burial will follow in Southview Cemetery.
Calling hours will be Monday, April 2, from 4 to 6 at the funeral home. Memorial donations can be made to St. Elizabeth's Church through the funeral home.
