Edward A. Recchia, 93

ADAMS, Mass. — Edward Anthony Recchia, 93, of 18 Edward Ave. died Saturday, July 28, 2012, in Pittsfield. Born in Pittsfield on Sept. 28, 1918, a son of Lorenzo and Antoinette D'Arcangelo Recchia, he attended schools in Pittsfield. A decorated Army veteran of World War II, he served with the 3rd Division. Mr. Recchia was owner of Bernard Beauty Supply Co., serving Berkshire County for many years. He enjoyed golf and was a longtime member of Wahconah Country Club in Dalton. He also enjoyed ballroom dancing. He was a member of the Sons of Italy Itam Lodge 564 in Pittsfield. He leaves his loving friend and partner of many years, Ann Stergis; a daughter, Joan; his grandchildren, John and Catherine and her husband, Dan; his great-grandchildren, Jack and Mary; his brother, Richard Recchia of Pittsfield; his friends and neighbors for more than 60 years, the Rowleys, and countless friends and family members. FUNERAL NOTICE — Funeral services to celebrate the life of Mr. Recchia will take place Thursday, Aug. 2, at 10 a.m. from Flynn & Dagnoli-Bencivenga Funeral Home, 5 Elm St., Pittsfield. Burial will follow in Bellevue Cemetery in Adams. Calling hours will be Wednesday, Aug. 1, from 5 to 8 at the funeral home. Members of the Sons of Italy Itam Lodge 564 will meet Wednesday evening at 6 at the funeral home for a ritual service. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations are suggested for the First Tee of Massachusetts, 300 Arnold Palmer Blvd., Norton, MA 02766 or through the funeral home.
