This week’s iBerkshires.com/Southwestern Vermont Health Care Athletes of the Week provided some major Friday night highlights.

PIttsfield junior Marcus Jubrey accounted for four touchdowns in a dominating 62-19 win over Chicopee at Berkshire Community College.

He started the game with a 51-yard throw to Da’Sean Brown on the game’s second play to start the Generals on a 30-point first quarter, and PHS never looked back in winning their second straight game.

The victory put Pittsfield at 3-3 with two games left to play and marked the fourth time Pittsfield has scored at least 30 points this fall.

Jubrey has been at the center of the PHS offense with his arm and his leg.

“Marcus has been the guy all season for us," Pittsfield coach Brian Jezewski said a couple of weeks ago after a narrow loss to Suburban North Division-leading South Hadley. "He stepped up big. We challenged him this week, and, obviously, he followed through with that.”

Pittsfield this week goes on the road to challenge Putnam Vocational, which is second in the Suburban North, before finishing the regular season schedule back at BCC against Taconic on Oct. 27.

Just one week remains in the regular season for Eva Jacinto and the Wahconah volleyball team.

They finished the penultimate week in style by holding off Lee on Friday night in a battle of teams each currently ranked second in their respective divisions statewide — Wahconah in Division 4 and Lee in D5.

Jacinto had 12 digs in the highly competitive, four-set win over the Wildcats, including one on match point.

“It was definitely intense,” she said of the matchup with a team Wahconah beat in five sets the first time they played. “Lee is a really good team. They have a lot of good skills. We were nervous to play them because we know what they can do. But the adrenaline and playing at home and knowing that we can beat them because we’ve done it before really helped us push through.”

Jacinto leads Wahconah (15-1) in kills and digs this season, and she has come up big in some of the team’s biggest wins: a double-double with 12 kills and 12 digs at Lee, 13 kills and 15 digs on the road at Agawam and Friday’s standout performance.

Wahconah has two matches left this week. It goes to Chicopee Comp on Tuesday and is home on Thursday with a chance to avenge its only loss of the fall when undefeated Mount Greylock, currently the No. 1-ranked team in Division 5, travels to Dalton.
