Drury Boys Soccer Gets First Win
NORTHFIELD, Mass. -- Three different players scored a goal, and Connor Clark had two assists as the Drury High School boys soccer team earned its first win of the year on Wednesday, defeating Pioneer, 3-0.
"We finally put it together on both ends of the field, and it feels good to get that first win after playing in so many close games this season," Drury coach John Jaccobe said.
"This was our first shutout of the year, and Connor Meehan did a good job controlling the 18."
Meehan made five saves to get the win in his third game after switching from the field to the goal.
Drury's Sully Boland scored the game-winner late in the first half on an assist from Jonah Miles.
With 17 minutes left, Chris Andrews scored his first varsity goal with help from Clark. And seven minutes later, Clark set up Thane Preite for an insurance goal.
"Our back four -- Oscar Alvarez, Hunter Harpin, Jon Boland, and Josh Giron -- did a good job in front of Connor," Jaccobe said. "It was a good team shutout starting with Connor in goal but for the most part we were on the same page today in the defensive third limiting their scoring opportunities."
