This week’s iBerkshires.com Bedard Bros. Athletes of the Week helped their teams storm through the penultimate regular season week of the high school sports year.

The Mount Everett baseball team has been on a tear this spring, building a 14-0 record.

Three of those wins came this week, and the last two featured home runs from Brody Kinna.

Kinna Thursday hit a grand slam in a 6-5 win over Lenox on the road. The next day, he hit his third homer of the year in a 10-2 win and drove in three runs in a 10-2 win over Mount Greylock.

Kinna also went four innings on the mound in the win at Lenox, striking out 10.

For the season, he is 6-0 with an earned run average of less than two as a pitcher and is hitting .318 with 17 RBIs at the plate.

Mount Everett, currently the No. 6 team in the commonwealth in Division 5, has another busy week ahead to end the regular season with three games scheduled, starting Monday at home against Drury, the No. 4 team in D5.

The Division 4 girls lacrosse state tournament will have a new entrant this spring after the McCann Tech Hornets punched their ticket to the post-season with a 9-3 home win over Lee that ensures the fourth-year program a .500 record this spring.

Unlike the Eagles in baseball, the Hornets in girls lacrosse will not be one of the favorites in the state tourney. Currently they’re ranked 45th and headed to a preliminary round game to get into the main 32-team draw.

But making it to the tournament at all is a huge accomplishment for a program that, on this date a year ago, did not have a varsity win to show for its first three years in the sport.

That first win came thanks in part to five goals from Gabby Wells-Vidal, who led McCann Tech to an 8-6 win over Smith Vocational on May 15, 2026.

The Hornets went to win four times in their last five games last year and are 7-4 so far this year.

Wells-Vidal has been one of the big reasons why, accounting for 26 goals this season.

Last week, she scored twice in a 5-4 win over Monson, once in a 5-2 win over Southwick and once more (with an assist) in the win over Lee.

McCann Tech has three more tries to improve its state ranking (including a Western Mass tournament non-qualifier game next week. The Hornets’ regular season wraps up with rematches at Springfield Central on Tuesday and at Lee on Thursday.
