NORTHFIELD, Mass. -- Ivan Liang scored a pair of goals, and the McCann Tech boys soccer team dominated the second half to earn a 3-1 win over Smith Vocational and qualify for the Western Massachusetts tournament on Tuesday.

Liang to the scoring started with a first half goal with an assist from Evan McAllister, but the Vikings responded a few minutes later.

In the second half, McAllister set up Nick LaForest for the game-winner, and Liang added an unassisted goal.

“Andrew Levesque played an amazing game right up until he got hurt halfway through the second half and had to be taken off,” McCann Tech coach John Bresett said. “Michael Harris replaces him and proceeded to keep them out of the net.

“We played well today and I am proud of these guys. We reached our goal with games to spare and it feels great and they are having fun doing it which is the most important feeling. Going forward, it won’t be easy but we are playing our best soccer right now and I hope they keep pushing themselves and each other to become better players.”

McCann Tech (9-5-1) hosts Putnam on Thursday.
