CHESHIRE, Mass. -- Steven Crouch and Keagan McGrath each scored twice Thursday to lead the Hoosac Valley boys soccer team to a 4-2 win over Taconic.

Taconic (0-2) struck first with a Colin Connors goal on an assist from Trevor Coleman in the second minute.

But Hoosac answered with two first-half goals. First Paolo Kareh sent McGrath behind the defense, and McGrath beat the keeper one-on-one to tie it. Then midway through the half, Crouch scored to put the Hurricanes ahead, 2-1.

Crouch made it 3-1 midway through the second off an assist from Braidee Greene.

Taconic’s Jason Peprah scored unassisted to get the deficit down to one goal, but Greene set up McGrath for the game’s final score.

“It was a hot day,” Hoosac coach Mike Russo said. “But I was pleased with the way our boys closed on the ball defensively. We created quite a few chances.

“Taconic played well. It was a competitive match, to say the least.”

Hoosac Valley (1-1) hosts Drury on Thursday night at Renfrew Field.

Taconic travels to face St. Joseph on Tuesday.
