SOUTH DEERFIELD, Mass. -- Despite outshooting Frontier by an 11-3 margin on Tuesday, the Mount Greylock boys soccer team settled for a 0-0 tie in its season finale.

Luke Swann and Manas Jain had quality opportunities in each half, but the Mounties were frustrated by Frontier’s efforts to pack it in in the box, Mount Greylock coach Blair Dils said.

“Senior Zach Condon was a man among boys on defense and was a key reason for the shutout on the day,” Dils said.

Mount Greylock keeper Sam Edge finished with three saves.

The Mounties will miss the postseason with a record of 3-11-2 after six of the wins they earned were forfeited due to an administrative error that allowed an ineligible player on the roster at the start of the season.

“We're hoping to finish with a win, but we played some of our best soccer in the last two days,” Dils said, alluding to Monday’s Senior Night win over Amherst. “The boys are taking things in stride but are very disappointed the season had to end today.

“The D3 tournament will be wide open this year and it's frustrating that through no fault of their own these players will need to buy tickets to see any of the action.”
