Spartans Blank Pittsfield

GREAT BARRINGTON, Mass. – Mason Whiteman scored in the 52nd minute to break a scoreless tie and send the Monument Mountain boys soccer team on to a 3-0 win over Pittsfield on Tuesday.

 

“I thought we dominated the first 30 minutes of the game tonight but weren’t able to finish any of our three quality chances,” Pittsfield coach Ryan Wanek said. “The second half wasn’t our best. I felt we were rushing things. Trying to be too direct and not looking for the channels, and credit to Monument they capitalized on their opportunities.”

 

Lucca Hernandez and Luke Guerrero each scored insurance goals for Monument Mountain.

 

The Spartans (4-3-1) travel to Pope Francis on Friday.

 

Pittsfield (3-4-2) is off until Tuesday when it hosts Minnechaug.
