Pittsfield Blanks Pope in Regular Season Finale

SPRINGFIELD, Mass. – Pittsfield High seniors Cal Soldato and Brandon Balcazar each scored his first goal of the season in a 5-0 win over Pope Francis as the Generals ended their regular season with a bang on Monday.
 
Pittsfield scored all five of its goals in the second half to wrap up its schedule with a 7-9-2 record and earn its first win since Oct. 11.
 
Kyle Cardoso scored twice, and Jeremy Adjei notched the first assist of his ninth-grade campaign.
 
PHS coach Neill Brandon credited Proper Ezan and Matt Burega with anchoring a strong defense in front of keeper Connor Devine, who posted his fourth shutout of the season.
 
Pittsfield learns Wednesday when it will begin play in the Division 4 State Tournament.
